What types of children’s activities do you offer?
The hall is suitable for children's parties. Bouncy castles can be used within the hall and the use of a small one can be used in the small enclosed outside play area. These must be held down by sandbags/weights.
How can I volunteer at Orsett Village Hall?
We welcome people to join the committee. Our AGM is usually held in June if you would like to come along and find out more details on how you can volunteer at your village hall.
How do I book the hall?
You will need to read through the Terms and Conditions of hire and agree then go to our online booking system, where you can check your required date and times for availability and make a booking. Please see our Q&A section for any further questions. If the answer to your question is not available please contact us.
Do you allow teenage parties?
No, unfortunately due to past events we no longer allow teenage parties, these include 13th birthday parties and also 18th and 21st celebrations.
How much is the hall?
The main hall which includes kitchen facilities, toilets and cloakroom is £25 per hour.
We reserve the right to always have our hire rates under review and advise these are subject to change.

Can I have a bouncy castle?
Bouncy castles can be used within the hall and the use of a small one can be used in the small enclosed outside play area. These must be held down by sandbags/weights. Pegs cannot be used.
What facilities are in the kitchen?
Fully fitted kitchen measures 6.5 x 3.5 metres. It contains a double sink, microwave and plenty of work surfaces. Gas cooker with 5 rings, 2 ovens and a separate grill and is serviced annually. Two fridge/freezers. Small basic crockery and cutlery selection, but no oven pans, dishes or cooking utensils are provided.
How big is the hall and how many guests will the hall accommodate?
We have a large hall measuring 11 x 16 metres with a maximum capacity permitted of 100 people. If you were to have a dance floor in the middle you could fit in 13 tables.
Can I view the hall?
We have made the hall website as detailed as possible including pictures, however if you would still like to make a viewing appointment for a larger event please contact us with your event details and diary date so that we can pass on the hall managers details for you to contact and arrange.
How many chairs and tables are supplied?
The village hall has a respectable limit of 100 people and we therefore provide the relevant number of 100 chairs. If you require more chairs please contact us in advance of your booking with your request.
Is there a noise limiter in the hall?
Yes. The hall has had a noise limiter for years and this cannot be bypassed as this will be in breach of your terms and conditions and an instant fine will be issued. Noise levels and cut off times should be adhered to in respect of the neighbouring community.rs get the help they need quickly and easily.
Can I sell alcohol in the hall?
You can sell alcohol as long as you have obtained a Temporary Event Notice from Thurrock Council 6 weeks before the event. (click here for the Thurrock Council page). You can also bring all your own drinks and run a free bar.
Is there a bar?
A newly refurbished, dedicated bar room with serving hatch direct to the hall is available for a small additional hire charge at your event and will provide a dedication area to stock and serve alcohol and beverages. There are 2 sinks, storage, shelving, bottle opener, 2 illuminated wine bottle fridges.
Do you offer a cleaning service?
No. As part of your hire agreement you are required to allocate enough time for clearing up and cleaning after your event, and we recommend that you allow an hour as a minimum after a party.
Who runs the hall?
Orsett village hall is run by a team of volunteers, which include a management team and committee.
What do I need to bring if I hold an event?
We have a limited amount of blue/white tac available for you to put up any decorations, therefore you may want to bring your own. We do not allow sellotape or pins to be used.
Please bring your black bags and cleaning products for cleaning up after your event. Brooms, mop and bucket, dust pan and brushes are provided for your use.
