Five committee members are in attendance, 1 absent and we welcome John our newest member to the committee, who was at the time on vacation.
The hall purchased a sustainable, recycled bench with a dedicated plaque to mark the occasion of the Orsett village hall celebrating 50 years serving the community. This 'Friendship bench' has now been installed outside the main entrance and we welcome hall attendee's and walkers alike to take a seat and chat with friends. A small flowerbed was made to accompany the bench by volunteers of the village hall. Thank you
Airconditioning heat pump units have been installed in the main hall and although a big expense from the charities funds the committee deemed this a necessity due to yearly rising summer temperatures and a failing heating system. The feedback from users of the hall so far this year has been very positive and they should make the hall comfortable all year round.
Security deposits are taken in advance of larger event bookings and this system seems to be working well. Kayleigh our booking manager has an excellent system in place.
Noise limiter: This was relocated and sockets set to go off at 11pm which is working very well for us and our adjacent residents.
Website: A new village hall website is up and running well and a thank you gift was arranged and delivered to Jackie F. who designed and managed the previous website for years as her contribution to the hall. Thank you
Chairs: The number of chairs available have been reduced to 100 now being accessible for events, this coincide's with the max number of 100 permitted attendee's.
Carpark street light: This was noted as being out and is being dealt with.
Fence: A low level fence or small wooden posts along the verge from the High Road to the entrance of the hall carpark on Mill Lane was discussed, as we continue to find a more long term solution to stop parking on the verge leading to the carpark.
Men's toilets: replacement lights with more energy efficient bulbs to be installed. Freshen up with a coat of paint.
Community Christmas events underway: An afternoon show with family entertainer, Nicky Trix & An adult evening Christmas disco to be arranged for Saturday 16th December 2023. We look forward to welcoming the community again for these enjoyable fundraising events.
